Pope Benedict XVI conducts a mass in Cofton Park, Birmingham, England, Sunday, Sept. 19, 2010. Pope Benedict XVI is on a four-day visit, the first ever state visit by a Pope to Britain. The Mass is to beatify Cardinal John Henry Newman, the 19th century Anglican convert who was enormously influential in both the Anglican and Catholic churches. Benedict wants to hold Newman up as a model, for having followed his conscience at great cost. less
