RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - NOVEMBER 03: A cat sits in a formerly deserted bullding which is currently home to 82 families who occupy the building in the port district on November 3, 2013 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Residents say the building has been occupied for the past 14 years and government officials have informed the residents that they will be relocated to new housing in the North Zone of the city ahead of the 2014 World Cup. Some residents doubt the intentions of the government. Ahead of the 2014 World Cup and Rio 2016 Olympic Games, Rio has started a multibillion dollar urban renewal program of its port district which includes a double decker waterfront freeway being torn down to be replaced by tunnels, repaved roads, a tram network and other infrastructure improvements in the area. The 'Porto Maravilha' project is also expected to displace around 1,000 local residents. (Photo by Mario Tama/Getty Images) less
