As the summer winds down, millions of Americans will still try to fit in one last vacation over Labor Day weekend. Travel website Kayak analyzed its travel data to narrow down where people are traveling to for Labor Day weekend. The site says Athens, Georgia saw a 3,000% increase in searches, on the heels of the start of the University of Georgia’s football season. But if you’re looking for some quiet time this Labor Day weekend, search traffic on the site for Vancouver, Canada, Boston, Massachusetts and Paris, France dropped between 30-44%, so you might be able to score some deals and have more of the hotel to yourself. If you’re still up in the air over where to travel during Labor Day weekend, don’t shy away from last-minute travel deals, which will be all over the Internet in the days leading up to the holiday. You can use smartphone apps like HotelTonight to book same-day hotel reservations and FlightTonight for last-minute airline seats. less
