Japanese researchers said they found mutations in butterflies caused by radiation from the crippled Fukushima Dai-Ichi nuclear power plant. A member of the team conducting the research, Joji Otaki of the university, said Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2012, that his group's findings show radiation emitted following catastrophic meltdowns in three of the plant’s reactors after it was damaged by a 9.0-magnitude earthquake and tsunami on March 11, 2011 is affecting the environment.
