STAMFORD, CT - JANUARY 19: U.S. Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-CT) waves during a press conference announcing would not seek re-election in 2012 at the Marriott hotel January 19, 2011 in Stamford, Connecticut. The 68-year-old senator has been a member of the Senate for over two decades and will be wrapping up his fourth term of service. Lieberman was the Democratic Party's nominee for the position of Vice Presidency alongside Al Gore in 2000. In 2006, he resigned from the Democratic Party and became an Independant after losing his party's nomination for Senate to a nominee backed by the party's extreme left wing, Ned Lamont.
