The Italian Guardia di Finanza made a discovery of 30 tons of cannabis aboard a cargo ship which caught fire 30 miles north of Malta on September 6. The Tanzanian-registered cargo ship ‘Gold Star’ was suspected to be carrying drugs and Italian police gained permission to board on September 6. Upon trying to carry out an inspection, the boat was set alight by members of the nine-men crew. less
