Smithsonian National Zoo's giant panda Mei Xiang snuggles her cub at the National Zoo in Washington, September 5, 2013. A rare giant panda cub born two weeks ago at the Smithsonian National Zoo is female, zoo officials said on Thursday. The cub, which has yet to be named, was born to 15-year-old panda Mei Xiang in the U.S. national zoo and tests showed the father is 16-year-old Tian Tian of the same zoo.
