U.S. employers added 162,000 jobs in July, a modest increase and the fewest since March. The gain was still enough to help lower the unemployment rate to a 4?-year low of 7.4 percent, a hopeful sign in an otherwise lackluster report. Although the unemployment rate fell to 7.4 percent, the share of American adults with jobs is stuck at just 58.7 percent. U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry said the United States will immediately begin considering visa applications of gay and lesbian spouses in the same manner as heterosexual couples. Kerry made the announcement at the U.S. Embassy in London. "When same-sex couples apply for a visa, the Department of State will consider that application in the same manner that it considers the application of opposite sex spouses." less
