Former Bangladesh envoy and former Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Muhammad Zamir blamed Bangladesh's biggest Islamist party, Jamaat-e-Islami for the wartime atrocities committed during the 1971 liberation war and called it a fringe group. Zamir said on Sunday (May 19) in Dhaka city that Jamaat-e-Islami has tried to persuade students studying in religious schools to support their demands against retribution. Zamir also said that Jamaat-e-Islami, accused of war crimes should be banned.
