Can Technology News Byte: Gillmor Gang: Interdependance Day
The Gillmor Gang ? John Borthwick, Robert Scoble, Kevin Marks, Keith Teare, and Steve Gillmor ? marvel at the mutually assured creation of a partnership between Larry Ellison's Oracle and Marc Benioff's Salesforce.com. Few would have predicted such a stunning partnership just a few years ago, but the crescendoing intersection of cloud, social, and mobile has borne sudden fruit. T-Mobile's new UNcarrier intuitive may already be paying off. Analysts forecast that the carrier will soon record its first postpaid subscriber gain in more than four years. Macquarie Capital estimates that T-Mobile will add 98,000 postpaid customers in the second quarter, compared to having lost 557,000 subscribers in the same quarter in 2012. Barclays is a little more conservative with its estimates, projecting the carrier will add 50,000 postpaid customers. Roger Entner of Recon Analytics, per Investors.com, noted that a majority of T-Mobile's success can be attributed to the iPhone, on top of the carrier's unique payment plans. "There was huge pent-up demand for a cheaper option," the analyst said. Alec Baldwin is taking another breather from Twitter?and it's probably for the best. The former 30 Rock star pulled the plug on his @ABFalecBaldwin account Thursday after after lashing out at the U.K.'s Daily Mail for claiming in a story that his wife, Hilaria Baldwin, was tweeting "upbeat posts" while the couple attended James Gandolfini's funeral.
