Hours after the Department of Justice and 33 U.S. states proposed their own set of remedies for Apple to comply to following its July loss in the e-books price-fixing case, the company came back with its own set of terms and called the government's proposals vague, overreaching, and unwarranted. In a brief filed recently, Apple called the government's proposed measures a "draconian and punitive intrusion into Apple's business, wildly out of proportion to any adjudicated wrongdoing or potential harm." Management software company Compuware Corp has renewed efforts to sell itself, courting not just the buyers of rival BMC Software Inc but also CA Technologies Inc and other buyout firms. Compuware rejected a $2.3 billion offer from New York-based hedge fund Elliott Management Corp in January and asked Goldman Sachs Group Inc and Allen & Company to seek a better offer. For the most part, the Moto X is just another smartphone. In fact, it's been dubbed a mid-range phone that won't excite hardcore Android fans. But it's not meant to appeal to the minority.
