Maaloula (Syrian Arab Republic), 20/12/2014.- Gregory III Laham (L), the Patriarch of Antioch and All the East, is shown relics and icons by Syrian Minister of Education Issam Khalil (3-L) and the Minister of Tourism Beshr Yazeji (2-L) at the Greek Catholic monastery of St. Sergius and Bacchus in the small town of Maaloula, Syria, 20 December 2014. Journalists have been taken in a government-organized tour to the ancient Christian town on 20 December 2014 to oversee the display of rare icons and relics that were stolen by militants and recently restored by the government at the Greek Catholic monastery of St. Sergius and Bacchus. Many works of art and historic relics were robbed from the monastery including the invaluable icon of St. Sergius painted in the 13th century.
