Tourists sit at an empty beach at the coast of the Red Sea of El-Gouna in Hurghada, about 464 km (288 miles) from the capital Cairo, September 11, 2013. According to Egypt's official statistics agency CAPMAS, there was a 25% drop in July 2013 in tourist visits to Egypt due to the country's political crisis. As result, government initiatives have been launched, such as low-priced packages for locals which include air tickets and accommodations in four and five star hotels, to encourage domestic tourism in hopes of increasing hotel occupancy rates, local media said.
