A transvestite who gave his first name as Taesha listens to questions during a survey of the homeless early Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2010, in San Diego. More than 200 volunteers took to the streets of downtown San Diego in the early morning hours this week, speaking to the city's homeless as part of a new effort to gain information homelessness. The project, known as San Diego Registry Week, is part of a national program aimed at getting a clearer picture on the homeless population. less
