In this Tuesday, April 23, 2013 photo, University of Pennsylvania linguistics professor Bill Labov takes part in demonstration highlighting his work, at the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia. Labov says the Southern-inflected sound of the Philadelphia dialect is moving toward a more Northern accent.
