U.N. special adviser on Myanmar Vijay Nambiar leaves Sittwe Airport on Thursday, June 14, 2012, in Sittwe, the capital of Rakhine state in western Myanmar. The authorities in Myanmar say 29 people died in the communal violence that swept through the western state last week. The breakdown showed for the first time that both the Buddhist Rakhine and Muslim Rohingya communities suffered equally. Nambiar visited Sittwe on Wednesday, accompanied by government officials, and then flew to another city that has seen violence, Maungdaw, in northern Rakhine state near Bangladesh.
