This NOAA satellite image taken Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2012 at 1:45 a.m EDT shows an area of low pressure across eastern Ontario with a cold front extending southward across the central Great Lakes into the Middle Mississippi Valley and southern Plains. The tail end of this front is supporting strong to severe thunderstorms across Oklahoma and Texas. Across the East Coast, a cold front has pushed offshore across southern New England and the northern Mid-Atlantic. This front extends across the southern Mid-Atlantic into the Tennessee Valley producing showers and thunderstorms. A cluster of thunderstorms associated  with an area of low pressure across the northern Gulf of Mexico has moderate chance of tropical development.(AP PHOTO/WEATHER UNDERGROUND)
