Each was charged with attempted murder and other crimes in the attack on Rogers' ex-girlfriend, Latonya Bowman. Both men were denied bail and requested court-appointed lawyers. Prosecutors allege that Mathis abducted Bowman at gunpoint from Rogers' Warren home early Saturday, drove her to a vacant Detroit field, doused her in lighter fluid, set her on fire and shot her. They say she played dead until he fled. Bowman suffered burns but is expected to recover. She gave birth to a boy via an emergency cesarean section hours before Rogers' arraignment.
