This undated photo provided by the Illinois Department of Corrections shows inmate Stanley Wrice. Wrice claimed that Chicago police officers brutally beat him across his face, body and groin with a flashlight and piece of rubber to get a confession. Wrice was arrested on Sept. 9, 1982, at his Chicago home, where a woman alleged that she'd been beaten, burned and sexually assaulted by three men. Now that former Chicago police Lt. Jon Burge, the decorated commander in charge of those officers, has been convicted of lying about torture, attorneys for the dozens of men like Wrice hope the commander's fall from grace will hasten the freedom of men they say were convicted with evidence tainted by torture. less
