Fox Searchlight Pictures has inked a deal for North American and U.K. rights to BAFTA Award winner Amma Asante's Belle, inspired by the true story of Dido Elizabeth Belle, the illegitimate mixed-race daughter of a Royal Navy admiral. The movie, directed by Amma Asante, includes Tom Wilkinson, Emily Watson, Miranda Richardson and Matthew Goode in its all-star ensemble cast. Despite generating pre-tax profits of 68 million pounds ($103.6 million) during its last fiscal year ended September 2012, Apple didn't pay a single dime in taxes to U.K. authorities, The Financial Times reported recently, citing corporate filings with the U.K. government. In the prior year, Apple paid 11.4 million pounds. Tomato fights, anarchic gymnasts and astrophysics drew festival-goers of all ages away from the mainstream music acts at Britain's Glastonbury festival this weekend. The 1,500 hippies who paid one pound ($1.52) to attend the first Glastonbury festival in 1970 would barely recognize the massive three-day event, where around 150,000 fans were watching 2,000 acts on 58 stages, alongside thousands of workshops and stalls. less
