Entire neighborhoods and two elementary schools were obliterated

Darrell Issa would like a do-over. The Chairman of the House Oversight Committee, no doubt motivated in part by outrage over his allowing the IRS's Lois Lerner to invoke her Fifth Amendment right during a hearing Wednesday, plans to demand she return to complete her testimony. His argument: Lerner waived her ability to claim that right once she offered an opening statement. Is he right?

Showtime has revealed the list of guest stars for Season 3 of "Homeland," and the character descriptions offer some hints at the drama ahead.

Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul spoke out against his fellow members of the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations this week after they voted 15-3 in favor of arming elements of Syrian opposition. According to Foreign Policy, the bipartisan bill "would authorize the shipment of arms and military training to rebels 'that have gone through a thorough vetting process.'"

For two days John McCain and Ted Cruz have been fighting on the Senate floor over the rules for negotiating a budget, but, like so many fights, it's also about so much more. Cruz is being annoying about the budget, but worse, he just doesn't get the Senate. 

President Obama's approval rating in several recently released polls suggests that the three controversies his administration is navigating have not begun to hurt him.
