VF Corp is starting the year on solid footing after exceeding analysts' estimates in its first quarter. The apparel company reported a nearly 7% jump in revenue, driven by double-digit growth in its outdoor and action sports portfolio. Brands in that division, including The North Face, Timberland and Vans, spiked 14% and accounted for more than half total revenue of $2.8 billion. Its bottom line also exceeded expectations with earnings of 67 cents a share coming in 4 cents higher than forecasts. less
