Six major retailers including Wal-Mart and Walgreen will start listing unit prices online, in an agreement with New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman. The move will let online shoppers compare prices by unit at stores like Costco, FreshDirect, CVS Caremark and Drugstore.com. The move is significant as the display of per-unit prices online has been rare, according to Schneiderman's office, despite the fact that per-unit pricing is required in brick-and-mortar stores in 19 states and the District of Columbia. The companies said they will clearly display the per-unit prices of products on Web-based shopping platforms within nine months. less
