White House intruder

U.S. Army veteran Omar Gonzalez on Tuesday was sentenced to 17 months in prison minus time already served for bursting into the White House with a knife last year.

Gonzalez, 43, of Copperas Cove, Texas, was sentenced in U.S. District Court. He will spend eight remaining months in prison, having already served nine months of jail time, and will face three years of supervised release afterward.

Gonzalez pleaded guilty to charges that he climbed over the White House fence in September, pushed past a Secret Service agent guarding a door and entered the executive mansion before guards stopped him. (Reuters)
