Lois Petti and friends were boating off the coast of North Truro, Massachusetts when three humpback whales surfaced right next to a nearby Swedish tourist on a raft. The tourist wound up safely making it aboard Lois' boat, and Lois managed to capture the incident on camera. A scientist at the Provincetown Center for Coastal Studies says nobody was in serious danger, but maintaining distance is a good idea in these types of situations. Humpback whales are an endangered species and federal regulations require that people try to stay at least 100 yards away. The whales are usually between 40 to 50 feet and can weigh up to 75,000 pounds.
