Pia Wurtzbach works hard to achieve Miss Universe dream

The Filipina beauty queen has been doing her homework in preparation for the big event

16 Dec - Five more days before the 2015 Miss Universe Pageant and Miss Universe Philippines, Pia Wurtzbach, has been working hard to show she is worth the title.

As reported on Philstar, the 26-year-old beauty has been busy participating in a series of preliminary events alongside 79 other candidates in Las Vegas, from the Stop Hunger Now event to the pre-pageant talent show held at the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino last weekend.

Last week, Wurtsbach also participated in the National Gift Auction and the Chinese Laundry Sponsor event at Zappos, alongside other beauty hopefuls including Miss Universe Ireland Joanna Cooper and Miss Universe New Zealand Samantha McClung.

Later this week, she is set to join the preliminary show and the national costume segment.

In a different interview, Wurtzbach stated that she has been doing her homework and is now pretty confident that she is getting there.

"For the last three years that I have tried, people are laughing at me and saying that I was trying too hard. And my answer is yeah, I really am trying hard. I try my hardest because this is what I want," she said.

Wurtzbach's journey started in 2013 when she joined the Binibining Pilipinas contest to achieve her dream of representing the country in an international pageant. After winning first runner-up in 2013 and only finishing top 15 last year, the Filipina-German model was finally given the opportunity to achieve her dream by winning the title this year.

The 64th Miss Universe will air live on Sunday, 20 December.
