A pickup truck burst into flames Friday on Route 16 in Mendon. What we know
MENDON — An Uxbridge man suffered minor injuries after his truck caught fire early Friday morning when it crashed into a utility pole, authorities said.
The cause of the 5:30 a.m. crash remains under investigation, police said.
In a press release, Mendon police said the man was driving a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado east on Uxbridge Road (Route 16) when, for unknown reasons, it went off the road and struck a concrete post and a utility pole.
"As a result of this collision, the vehicle caught fire and became fully engulfed in flames," police said in the release.
The man, who was not identified, was taken to a local hospital to be treated for undisclosed injuries.

The crash resulted in a portion of the road being closed for several hours, as National Grid was at the scene repairing the utility pole.
The crash occurred in front of the Alicante Restaurant & Lounge. The restaurant posted on Facebook that it hoped to open Friday, although a phone call placed there Friday afternoon failed to go through.
"Phone line is down we are currently working to be up and running for tonight bad accident this morning someone hit the telephone pole," according to the post. "We will keep you posted."
