The Detroit Pistons signed free agent forward-center Josh Harrellson to a contract, the team announced Thursday.
The Pistons did not release terms of the contract.
The 6-foot-10 Harrellson played six games for the Miami Heat last season and also spent time in Puerto Rico and China.
A second-round draft pick in 2011, Harrellson played in 37 regular-season games for the New York Knicks in 2011-12, averaging 2.5 points and 2.0 rebounds. He also averaged 4.4 points and 3.9 rebounds in four playoff games.
The 24-year-old played at Kentucky from 2008 to 2011 and averaged 7.6 points and 8.7 rebounds as a senior.
