MANITOWOC — Manitowoc Police Department is investigating after a small plane crashed in the city Nov. 30. Two people were inside the plane, but neither was hurt, the department said.

The county’s Joint Dispatch Center received multiple citizen calls of a small aircraft that may have been having a malfunction around 3:15 p.m. Nov. 30, police said. The aircraft was described as last seen in the Schuette Park area and rapidly decelerating in speed and altitude, police added.

Police and Manitowoc Fire Rescue responded, locating an overturned small aircraft in a wooded area. The aircraft occupants were present and were determined to be uninjured.

The department said the investigation is ongoing with a joint investigation involving Manitowoc Police Department, Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board. No further information would be immediately released, the department said Dec. 1.
