Plans have been submitted for two Wawa convenience store locations in Wilmington.

Plans for a Wawa convenience store on Oleander Drive have fallen through as the developer withdrew the property's rezoning application.

The 2.12 acre site at 5400 Oleander Drive was previously Hops Supply Co., a gastropub that closed down abruptly in early 2023.

According to a 2024 press release from Wawa, the company plans to open 70 more stores in Alabama, Georgia and North Carolina.

Wawa still has plans to open two locations in the Wilmington area, one located at 2402 S.17th St. and one at 4319 Carolina Beach Road.

Both projects are still active and under review, according to the city of Wilmington's project tracker.

The StarNews has reached out to the applicant and land owner to inquire about future plans for the property.
