Oguchi Onyewu's goal and Jermaine Jones' assist in his first game in a U.S. uniform weren't enough for the United States, which settled for a 2-2 draw in an exhibition against Poland on Saturday night.
The Americans looked as if they might have the game-winner off a corner kick in the 90th minute, but a Poland defender cleared the ball off the line, and the U.S. couldn't convert a handful of other chances.
Onyewu's header in the 52nd minute made up for his first-half gaffe, which led to Poland's first goal. But Jakub Blazczykowski scored on a deflected pass in the 73rd minute for Poland, which is playing a series of exhibitions as it warms up for the 2012 European Championship. As co-host of the Euros with Ukraine, Poland does not have to qualify.
Jozy Altidore scored his first goal for the U.S. since May 29, and Adam Matuszczyk also scored for Poland, which had lost three of its last four games against the United States.
