Police: 7 more suspects wanted in casino arson

MONTERREY, Mexico (AP) — Mexican officials said Tuesday they are looking for seven more suspects in addition to five already arrested in an arson fire at a casino that killed 52 people and shocked a country used to grisly displays of drug violence.

At least 12 people were involved in the attack in this northern industrial city, Nuevo Leon state Gov. Rodrigo Medina said.

Medina commented as authorities showed journalists the five alleged members of the Zetas drug cartel who have been arrested in the case.

Gunmen ignited gasoline at the entrance to the Casino Royale on Thursday. Terrified customers and employees ran deep inside the building, and many were found dead from smoke inhalation in offices and bathrooms.

Police are investigating whether the attack was in retaliation for not paying extortion money.

Later on Tuesday, Nuevo Leon state police discovered the bones of seven people inside metal barrels at a camp in Monterrey's hillsides that apparently was used by a drug gang.

Local media said the five men in police custody for the casino attack led officers to the site, but authorities did not confirm that. They announced only that the remains had been found and gave few details.

All your going to do is place more miss trust in the Govt, Just because you Govt say this who there are doesn't make it so. To air the trial on T.V.of these persons would be the most beneficial, that way the rest of the country can see how the justice system works and the mentality of these criminals works

A video came out with the brother of the Mayor of Monterrey receiving a 30,000 dollar pay off from one of the other casinos 6 days before the attack. The mayor's answer was I don't know anything ask my brother. By the way the Mayor is a close personal of President Claderon.

Of all the cartel members that have been captured in the last 5 years...less than 25% have been convicted. The rest are out on the street.
      • JoMamma 8 mths ago
i've read the conviction rate, of the few that do make it to trial is more like 2%
    • Doc  •  8 mths ago
Why do they tell eveyone that have captured some of them. Just take them to sound proofed cells and interrogate them until they give up their leaders. Then dump their bodies in the ocean for the sharks to feed on.

I wish there were no demand for illegal drugs but as in this case of extortion the criminals will devote more effort to other ventures.
    • David  •  8 mths ago
Drug Cartels are like transportations/logistics companies. They transport product from a supplier to a market of consumers. No amount of effort has ever significantly impeded transportation. The only solution is to eliminate the demand in the market that they ship to. Maybe some of the acts suggested in the other posted commenst such as public hanging, beheading or cutting the fingers off would be more effective is applied to the drug users.
    • Richard  •  8 mths ago
The vast majority of illegal drug users in the united states are white. the vast majority of the money that fuels the illegal drug trade in the united states comes from whites. The vast majority of the profiteers from the illegal drug trade in the united states are white.
The vast majority of proceeds from the illegal drug trade in the united states remain in white hands. mexico has no control over the demand for drugs by whites in the united states. stop blaming mexico for the demand for drugs by whites in the united states. Legalize drugs and cut out the need to import illegal drugs to the united states from other countries.

Arresting Mexican cartel members is a joke, they will buy their way out in no time, just a show to calm the masses.
    • Patrick  •  8 mths ago
they need to enact a public hanging or public stoning for convicted drug cartel muderers.

they need to create fear in these people.
    • George  •  8 mths ago
They capture the killers, yet the government will only take and a Polaroid so it could be published and given to the media so it can look like the government is doing its job. pathetic

When will they build new beheading pyramids? They reached capacity and need more for their little gang rituals, dismemberment and face tatoos. At present they seem to favor storing their severed head trophies in front of elementary schools, what?
