‘Police Academy’ remake is a ‘go’
We all know the ’80s were a terrible time for fashion and music, but an incredible decade for movies.
Some of the funniest flicks of all time were created in the era of Cyndi Lauper and Eddie Murphy, including “Ghostbusters,” “The Breakfast Club,” and the “Beverly Hills Cop” franchise.
If you survived the ’80s and loved the “Police Academy” films — all seven of them — you’ll be pumped to learn The Hollywood Reporter reported that New Line Cinema is set to remake the original, which originally starred Steve Guttenberg and Kim Catrall of “Sex And The City” fame.
First-time director Scott Zabieski, who has worked on Comedy Central’s sketch comedy show, “Tosh.0,” will head up the production. Zabieski is also a reserve Hollywood policeman.
No word yet on who will act in the remake.
The first four films were made during the 1980s and the last three were finished up in the early ’90s. The movies were critically panned, but strong box office numbers made them cult favorites.
