Police believe missing California girls ran away

RIVERSIDE, Calif. (AP) — Two California girls who vanished during a weekend sleepover likely ran away, police said Monday.

People reported seeing Raylynn Bolt, 12, and Diana Tourdot, 14, together near a city plaza on Sunday, Riverside police Sgt. David Amador said in a statement.

"The girls are still missing but at this point in the investigation, it is believed the girls ran away from home," he said.

Family members and police using bloodhounds had searched for the girls after they vanished during the Saturday night sleepover at Diana's home.

There was no immediate word on why the girls might have run away.

"Unfortunately I think these two girls just got into a little bit of trouble," Donald Bolt, Raylynn' father, told KABC-TV.

He said the family gets along and enjoys video games and other activities.

The girls were spending the night at Diana's home. Her mother said she fell asleep around 11 p.m., heard a noise around midnight and woke up at 6:30 a.m., when the girls were gone, Donald Bolt said.

He appealed to both girls to not worry about consequences.

"You guys can come home," he said. "I mean, you know, if you guys maybe ran away or something or went to some guy's house, everything's fine. We've all done it. We've all been 12, 13, 14."
