NYPD pursues car with mismatched plates in Manhattan: police

CHELSEA, Manhattan (PIX11) – A woman was taken into custody, and police are searching for a man after officers pursued a car with mismatched plates through Manhattan Wednesday night, according to the NYPD.

Police tried to pull over a gray Audi near 25th Street and 9th Avenue in Chelsea around 10:52 p.m., according to authorities. The car took off, leading officers through the Meatpacking District and then back uptown, according to the NYPD.

The car eventually stopped in Rockefeller Center. The driver ran away, while the passenger was taken into custody, according to authorities.

The NYPD described the man as around 6’2″, last seen wearing a purple hoodie and black pants.

Police were investigating whether the car was stolen.
