Popeye’s restaurant off major Lakeland highway catches fire

LAKELAND, Fla. (WFLA) — A Popeye’s Louisiana Kitchen in Lakeland caught on fire early Wednesday morning, according to fire crews.

Around 5 a.m., the Lakeland Fire Department responded to the fast food chain located at 250 Highway 98 North after a witness called officials after seeing flames in the parking lot. Crews said the flames were likely from shrubbery behind the building.

By the time fire rescue arrived, the flames had reached the restaurant and had spread within the walls and attic space.

No injuries were reported and no further details were provided.
