The Power Play Goal

Despite slumping of late Claude Giroux leads the NHL in pp assists. Read more in Matt Riegler's Power Play Report

Only seven players have scored at least 10 goals on the power play this season, with four of the seven accounting for more than half their goals overall.

Alex Ovechkin leads the way with 18 of his 41 goals coming with the man-advantage.

The rest are (total goals in brackets):

Joe Pavelski 16 (31)

Wayne Simmonds 13 (25)

John Tavares 12 (30)

Gustav Nyquist 12 (21)

Claude Giroux 11 (18)

Steve Stamkos 10 (35)

The ‘non-noted’ goal scorers like Nyquist, Simmonds and Giroux are surprising to me to be on this list, especially Giroux who has never scored more than eight power play goals in one season in this his seventh year in the league.
