MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — A high school in Memphis, Tenn., has been evacuated after what authorities called a prank explosion using chemicals mixed in a bottle.
Staci Franklin, a spokeswoman for Memphis City Schools, said an assistant principal was taken to a hospital after inhaling some of the smoke produced by the mixture.
She said the device that exploded before noon Thursday at Craigmont High School was a bottle filled with household cleaning fluids.
Memphis police said there a bomb threat at the school shortly before the explosion. Students were sent to a football field while police and fire investigators cleared the school.
Police said two suspects were in custody. They could not say immediately if the suspects were students.
