COMMENTARY | U.S. politicians seems to be under a larger microscope than in other parts of the world. Had British Prime Minister David Cameron been an American politician, chances are he would be out of office by now.
According to CNN, not too long ago Cameron accidentally left his 8-year-old daughter in a pub. Can you imagine the fervor that would have erupted in the U.S. had President Barack Obama left one of his children in a bar? The British press just got around to reporting this, so apparently it isn't as big of a deal across the pond.
According to the Associated Press, officials said the incident happened a couple of months ago. I can see why this might not have been mentioned previously. Or that it didn't come out until after Queen Elizabeth's Diamond Jubilee. It would have been rather off-putting to the rest of the world to see the Queen shaking hands with the fellow who left his little girl in a drinking establishment.
I feel for the prime minister. Not knowing where your child is at a given moment can be the most frightening moment any parent can go through. This is not the first incident where Cameron has come up missing minus one child.
According to The Telegraph, while vacationing in France, he also lost his 6-year-old son during a street festival. One more incident that proves no matter how much security you have, responsibility for your children's whereabouts begins and ends with the parent. I would likely recommend the prime minister take better count of where his children are the next time he ventures into public.
