Prince William says his young son is a "little fighter"

In what CNN is calling his "first official interview" since the birth of his son George, Prince William says fatherhood has already changed his outlook on life.

"I think the last few weeks for me have been just a very different emotional experience," Prince William told CNN's Max Foster in an interview that aired Monday. "Something I never thought I would feel myself. And I find, again it's only been a short period, but a lot of things affect me differently now."

The prince continued: "For me, Catherine, and now little George are my priorities."

William talked extensively about his responsibilities as a new father -- namely, changing George's diapers.

"He's a little fighter," William said. "He wriggles around quite a lot."

William also talked about leaving the hospital with Catherine and George, whom William carried in the royal car seat.

"Believe me, it wasn't my first time," William said. "And I know there's been speculation about that. I had to practice, I really did. I was terrified that I was going to do some, you know, it was going to fall off or the door wasn't going to close properly. So, I had actually practiced with that seat, but only once before."

The interview is part of a CNN special on William's transition to fatherhood. The program, hosted by Foster, is scheduled to air Sept. 15.

William and Catherine were able to have some private time in the hospital with George, though William said he was fully aware of the public wanting to see the future heir.

"I think more shock and dauntingness was the feeling I felt," William said, "but it was, the thing is it's um, I think I was on such a high anyway, and so was Catherine about George that really we were happy to show him off to whoever wanted to see him. As any new parent knows, you're only too happy to show off your new child and, you know, proclaim that he is the best looking or the best everything."
