Pringle of Scotland gets serious at Fashion Week
LONDON (AP) — Pringle of Scotland went for a grown-up look at its London Fashion Week show Monday, showing off a series of dark cocktail dresses and functional but creatively cut coats.
Asymmetrical cuts ruled, with jackets peeled back to one side over the collarbone and some tops looking like a patchwork of different pieces of fabric.
The skirt-and-sweater combos lacked originality, but the knee-length coats in crimson, black, orange, or brown had an air of easy class.
Pringle is known for its knitwear and there were a few eye-catching pieces on display, including a heavily detailed dress loaded with piping. The models wore it well, but it did look a bit like a piece of alien body armor.
The nearly 200-year-old Scottish brand has been working to make inroads in the United States.
