STROUDSBURG, Pa. (AP) — A Pennsylvania prosecutor is asking jurors to convict a former United Methodist pastor of murder in the death of his second wife.
Michael Mancuso says Arthur Schirmer left behind evidence proving he covered up a murder.
Mancuso said Tuesday that Schirmer tried to make the deaths of his first and, later, his second wife appear as accidents. But he says the evidence shows Schirmer bludgeoned them to death with an iron bar nine years apart.
Mancuso asked jurors to convict the 64-year-old of premeditated murder.
Defense lawyer Brandon Reish (RYSH') says his client had extramarital affairs but no reason to kill his second wife.
Schirmer is awaiting trial in Lebanon County on charges he bludgeoned his first wife in 1999. He has pleaded not guilty.
