Providence Preservation Society seeking nominees for top 10 endangered properties

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence Preservation Society is seeking nominations from the public for its annual list of most endangered properties.

The organization says it is seeking properties for its top 10 list of properties threatened by neglect, demolition, development, deterioration and lack of funding. The list is intended to draw attention to properties the group says should be preserved because of their importance to the city's history, culture and character.

Last year's list included the seal house at Roger Williams Park, the Episcopal Cathedral of St. John on North Main Street and the former flower shop and greenhouse on Hope Street.

Some of the properties that have been named to the list in past years have undergone successful rehabilitations, including The Arcade complex downtown.
