    Puerto Rico tries to attract tourists by turning historic building into wedding centre

    SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico - Couples planning to get married in Puerto Rico will soon be able to tie the knot in one of the island's most historic buildings.

    The government says it will re-inaugurate a building known as the Vintage Casino in Old San Juan to attract more destination weddings.

    The two-storey building with baroque and neoclassical elements first opened in 1917 as a social club for Puerto Rico's upper crust. It then was a social club for the United Service Organization and later housed the island's first music school.

    Puerto Rican Secretary of State Kenneth McClintock said Wednesday that the building will be managed by SMG. The local company alread manages the San Juan Convention Center and a nearby coliseum.

      Funny how I have been to Puerto Rico several times and have never had any incident what-so-ever! I simply treat the Islanders with respect and stay away from any location that may make me the victim of a crime. Much the same way Europeans stay away from Baltimore, Detroit, Newark, St Louis, New Orleans, Compton, Trenton.......and especially Germans who stopped vacationing in Florida!

      We love Puerto Rico!!! Especially in the late fall, winter and early spring. Summers are quite hot. (too hot). We love Casalta, viejo San Juan, the beaches, the free pina coladas (Don Q) near hueye #1, the water temperature, the snorkeling, the rice and beans, Plaza las Americas, la Parguera (phosphorescent bay on a moonless night) the coquis and the sound they make at night, the bougainvilia, Stella Maris, the singing at ALL the Masses, Culebra, the El San Juan hotel's lobby bar with the live Puerto Rican music on early Friday evenings and the dancing that goes on there, radio oro, flan, boquerones, mallorcas at La Bonbonera along with either fresh squeezed oj or fresh and real papaya shake, adoquines in the streets of viejo San Juan, the breeze at night, cubanos, tembleque, El Morro, Paseo de la Princesa and the live music and dancing there....yup, that's what we like...

      I thought the scenery in Puerto Rico was beautiful, but I could really do without the people there. Al I encountered were coarse, rude people who were trying to get into my pocketbook.

        The most rude people I've seen in PR are the Americans living there who walk into supermarkets and the post office barefoot and with no shirts. It must be a white cultural thing because I see the same thing happen in Florida too. But I sure never heard of serial killers in PR and pedophiles are rare also, unlike so many white Americans in the US who are notorious pedophiles,child killers and serial killers..you still wanna point fingers.?At least 9 out of 10 pedophiles on the news and serial killers are white. So, do you pass out candy at playgrounds or do you prefer to find dates in family reunions instead?
