MONTREAL - A longtime Quebec journalist is in critical condition after a car accident this morning in Montreal.
Normand Lester — probably best known for his controversial collection of essays "The Black Book of English Canada" — slammed into a stopped vehicle at a red light at around 9:30 a-m.
Police say the 67-year-old may have suffered a heart attack.
Lester was a reporter for many years with CBC's French service before writing "The Black Book" in 2001.
The essays denounced English Canada's treatment of Quebec.
Lester has since worked as a TV commentator and newspaper columnist for other media outlets.
