Queen Elizabeth's diamond anniversary: By the numbers

Britain's reigning monarch has seen a dozen presidents, six popes, and 30 corgis come and go since assuming the throne in 1952

On Monday, Queen Elizabeth II marked the 60th anniversary of her accession to the British throne by watching schoolchildren in an eastern England town perform a play in her honor. The U.K. will also host a glitzy, days-long Diamond Jubilee in June to more formally and lavishly honor the Queen. In the meantime, here's a statistical look back at her six-decade reign:

considering the age to which her mother lived, she could very easily surpass Queen Victoria as longest reigning monarch. I find the history of the British Monarchy fascinating...there have been a lot of interesting "characters" on the throne since 1099AD.

She'll probably still be around in 3 1/2 years when she breaks Victoria's record. Happy Anniversary, Your Majesty.

I hope one of the ships has a Sex Pistols reunion, since they were there 35 years ago, too.

This old, selfish, filthy rich #$%$ needs to have her wealth redistributed to the poor. So does the Pope's and ALL plutocrats in the world. Then the economies will improve, people will have better lives and the poor can stop suffering.

Same lie that has been told since the beginning, take it from the rich..distribute it to the poor, everything will be great and we will all live well. Yet, in Soviet Russia, the people waited in line for shoes with cardboard soles, while the party elite got driven around in limos. Go take some more campus communism classes, you only need a few more to be as stupid as the man currently sitting in the White House.

What does "God save the Queen" mean? Who are we telling God to save her from? ...or what?

I think she's by far the fiercest old broad on the planet. Just for old times sake though, I would really love to see her step out in the old styled Medieval Elizabethan collared clothing like those that Kate Blanchett wore in her movie "Elizabeth: The Golden Age." That would really be FIERCE!
