    Questlove: NBC clearing Roots songs for Fallon

    NEW YORK (AP) — NBC is now checking the songs the Roots play on "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" after the band performed an off-color song during Michele Bachmann's show appearance last month.

    Ahmir "Questlove" Thompson of The Roots says now he's "gotta clear a lot of the song choices" with the network.

    "It's still a comedy show, so they promise not to step on my toes or that type of thing, but they definitely want to know the title of the song, the subject matter of the song, can it be seen as an insult?" he said in an interview Thursday.

    When the Republican presidential candidate appeared on the Nov. 22 show, house band The Roots played a snippet of a 1985 Fishbone song called "Lyin' Ass B----." A day later the Minnesota congresswoman received a personal letter from NBC's vice president for late night programming, Doug Vaughan; Fallon also apologized.

    "It was kind of wrong for me to throw (NBC) under the bus without telling them what it was, so I understand from a business standpoint," Thompson said.

    The drummer and frontman of The Roots said after the incident, he heard from members of Fishbone. The veteran rock band is the subject of a recent documentary, "Everyday Sunshine: The Story of Fishbone," so for them, the controversy likely helped.

    "They have a movie out so I guess for them at least the stars were aligned," he said. "They're one of my favorite bands, like I tip my hat to those guys."

      All of this pc crap is too much. I watch Jimmy Fallon all of the time, including the show with Ms. Bachmann. Frankly, I didn't pay any attention to the song not to mention the title, but I enjoyed her appearance. Perhaps it was a bad decision, but I think the apologies were sufficient. Why is it when people make mistakes, we seek to destroy them. Forgive them and move on. Nobody's low class, the network isn't Satanic, just a mistake, an ugly mistake, was made. Ms. Bachmann handled the whole thing with class.

        in this case he lied about it saying it was a spur of the moment thing yet he tweeted before the show he had something planned. this is why we dont want to forgive him and move on because he isn't sorry and he lied about it from the start.

        Suppose some right-wing band played the same song as an introduction of Michelle Obama or Hillary Clinton--the left would be in a lather calling for the execution of the band/producers of the show.
        Its freaks like you Angela that contribute to the coarseness of the discoruse in the US. You advocate a double standard--libs are allowed to do/say ANYTHING no matter how vugar or offensive, but conservatives are to be restrained, regulated. This is how it is since liberals control all media in the US.

      I watched that episode. I'm a guy and I think that was very disrespectful to her. You don't have to like her, but you cannot blatantly disrespect her in the manner that they did. What they did that night was very ignorant and immature.

      Questlove is your typical lying liberal. He tweets hours before the show to his followers what his intentions are and then says it was a spur of the moment thing. But then again he pales in comparison with our Liar-In-Chief, Obama, who lies to the American people again and again.

        You ought to look into some of Bachmann's statements. Many, if not "lies" are surely greatly misinformed: HPV vaccine causes retardation; John Wayne being a native of Waterloo, IA, when, in fact it's John Wayne Gacy: continuously referring to her history as a tax lawyer while not noting that her experience in the field was working for the IRS; stating that that the swine flu breakout in 1976 happened under the presidency of Jimmy Carter, while it actually happened under Gerald Ford (as though who was President had anything to do with a flu outbreak); getting rid of the minimum wage would wipe out unemployment...etc....etc....etc....
