Rapper T.I. returned to federal prison in Atlanta

ATLANTA (AP) — The lawyer for rapper T.I. said Friday that he's working to have the Grammy winner returned to a halfway house after a transportation flap left him locked up again in a federal penitentiary.

The Federal Bureau of Prisons website Friday shows that the rapper is at the Atlanta penitentiary with a release date of Sept. 29. He had checked into a halfway house in Atlanta this week after serving months in an Arkansas prison.

The 30-year-old rapper, whose real name is Clifford Harris, made the 375-mile (600-kilometer) trip to Atlanta in a gleaming motor coach on Wednesday. The transportation arrangements appear to be the reason he's back behind bars, his lawyer said.

"The Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) appears to have an issue with the circumstances surrounding TI's transportation from Arkansas to Atlanta," T.I.'s attorney, Steve Sadow, said Friday.

Sadow said they haven't received formal notice from prison officials explaining what he's accused of doing wrong.

Sadow said Friday there was never any intent to mislead or misstate T.I.'s method of transportation, and he hopes the issue can be cleared up quickly so T.I. can return to the halfway house.

"T.I. got on a private bus in the prison's parking area in full view of BOP employees. Indeed, he was actually escorted to the bus by a prison guard," Sadow said.

Federal Bureau of Prisons spokesman Chris Burke said Friday he couldn't discuss why the rapper was transferred back to a prison.

T.I. had initially served about seven months at the prison in 2009 after he was arrested for trying to buy unregistered guns and silencers from undercover federal agents. He was on probation after he was released and ordered not to commit another crime or to illegally possess any controlled substances.

He was arrested again in September 2010 in Los Angeles on drug charges after authorities said he was found with four ecstasy pills. He was sentenced in October to 11 months in prison for that violation, and had been set for release at the end of September but was let go early.

TI, I hope that everything works out for you and that God encamps His angels around you brother. Keep your head up and you, your wife and children be strong. You can find strength and eternal life through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ(John 3:16) The system just won't leave you alone. That song by Kanye, "My Chain" by Kanye is so relevant. You already did your time and they want to keep you locked-down.

With as much money as these people make, you would think they would be smart enough to have their entourage carry the 'goods" for them. If you have guns, make your boy carry it. If you have drugs, make your peeps carry it for you. That way you have plausible deniability. Then you dont go to jail. Easy

My God, Brian, have we gone back in time 150 years? Who gives a $*&% if someone is white, black, green, orange or damn purple? Grow up...racism is not attractive. You would think that 150 years after the Emancipation Proclamation, some people would learn to live alongside each other peacefully and let go of the pathetic racist thinking. I guess some people just can't evolve....inbreeding perhaps? Hahahaha! I'm white...I have absolutely nothing against the color of anyone else's skin - their actions make them who they are. If they are a murdered and just happen to be African American, I don't hold their actions against their nationality. There are african AMERICANS, asian AMERICANS, mexican AMERICANS, native AMERICANS...one thing they all have in common? WE ARE ALL AMERICANS! Enough said...

Sure, I called T.I an idiot the first time, as he got caught riding around in his expensive ride with his wife, high as a kite. As a Black man with money, these hating azz 50K a year cops are always looking for their chance to bring you down, makes them feel more manly, that they sent the rich, famous n1gger to jail. You have to be smarter than that bro. It's real pathological behavior with these Southern cops, but T.I opened the door, so I can't fee too bad for him on that one. However, this is some MASSIVE BULLSHYT going on right here. That's a long ride from the prison back to Atlanta. If the man has the money to take it in a tricked out tour bus, why not. Man has been holed up in prison for the last 3 years of his life damn near, with a small interlude in between both stints in prison. T.I is worth at least 25 million, probably close to 50 million before all the cases, legal fees and lack of tour income decimated his bank account. Should they have pulled up in the pickup truck from Sanford and Son and drove him back in that.

Furthermore, anyone who saw the Behind The Music on VH1, should have some idea why T.I was stockpiling weapons. I was very critical at first, until I saw that episode. T.I was getting death threats, from the same people affiliated with the crew, who shot his best friend to death, leaving a night club. All because of a silly argument, he had with those guys. Same thing that happened to Diddy, some local hustlers were mad that the famous guy is in their habitat, sucking up all the attention for the local cuties and hoochies, so their bruised egos provoke an altercation to regain their fragile feelings of emasculation. It wasn't about T.I living out some psuedo-hip hop Tony Montana fantasy. It was deeper than that and his bodyguard, got into a legal bind and sold T.I out, so his bytch azz didnt have to do time. Same as those fake friends that really ran Bad News Kennels for Michael Vick, who was rarely there and primarily just bankrolled it. So, they sold their famous friend up the river, because they were too scared to do time also.

MOST OF THESE PEOPLE IN LAW ENFORCEMENT ARE FRIGGIN HATERS WITH A CAPITAL H, WHO FEEL ANGRY THAT SOME N1GG3R FROM THE GHETTO MAKES MORE MONEY IN ONE SHOW, THAN THEY MAKE ALL YEAR WITH OVERTIME.

I do not understand why all BLACK that have a chance at fame would want anything to do with the state of Georgia they have made laws set up for failure and you guys want to over populate that one state read in the news about all the blacks with fame in the state of Ga and see how many of them have had some trouble with the law. taxes, child support, guns, extra women's,men whatever.Back in the day Ray Charles who was a blind man was banned from Georgia and even James Brown had troubles with the law up until he died these men were pioneers for the music industry and they had it hard when will we as a black people learn that in the White Man USA that the rules can change for a Person of a different race at any time because we have not passed written or even participated in any law but they can take your money you have a gift use it stop all the dumb reality BS putting your family business out for the public to view. the cameras follow the white .people to get dirty and you guys give it to them in such a negative way. when you got out you should of had a cab come and pick you up and let them see that the fee probably would have been less than what you paid to have all that extra anyway did you not THINK at all when you were there. GET A HEAD OF KNOWLEDGE in this world and I don't have the fame but you should have someone in your corner with some COMMON sense Kat Williams said it best a star player on your team. not just the lawyer to think things out for you. some one with KNOWLEDGE OF LIFE. Enjoy what fame have brought you but know when and where to use it.

The problem is that when these rappers get rich they are still trying to impress the community they used to live in. They want to get high, get guns, have all the women. These are aspirations of poor people, don't they realize they are rich now and that their dreams should change along with their fortunes. If not than they are left with the same consequences of poor people, jail, death and continued poverty. Wake up T.I you're rich, bitch!

T.I. is stupid but the powers that be are stupider. When the same laws apply to everyone equally than they can make examples and T.I knowing the country he lives in, their attitude towards black rappers should be a lot more cautious. Free schools and dumb people.

in the early mid 1960s, the USA (the leader of the world at the time) attempted to elevate itself by declaring that all races are equal

Yet, the nation has been slipping in decline ever since

Perhaps the pre-1960s population understood something we dont? You cant deny that their way of thinking made us the envy of the world, as opposed to the laughing stock it is becoming today

Yeah great example to the youth, funny if he was poor he would not get special privileges. We need better role models for the youth of today not someone promoting gun violence. I've lost many a friend to someone's cowardly use of a gun. Take the gun away and they run like little girls.
