Ratings: NBC’s ‘Meet the Press With Chuck Todd’ Sweeps November

A little over a year after Chuck Todd joined “Meet the Press” as moderator, the NBC News program has scored a ratings coup.

In Nielsen’s “live plus same-day” estimates for the November sweep, “Meet the Press” finished on top to mark its first such victory in all categories since 2011. It averaged 953,000 adults 25-54, besting ABC’s “This Week” (907,000), CBS’ “Face the Nation” (808,000 for its first half-hour) and Fox’s “Fox News Sunday” (502,000). And in total viewers, its 3.424 million held off “Face the Nation” (3.390 million) and “This Week” (3.232 million) and nearly doubled up “Fox News Sunday” (1.716 million).

“Meet the Press” delivered its biggest overall November sweep audience since 2008 and beat “Face the Nation” among total viewers for the first time since 2011. The NBC show also widened its gap over “This Week” to its biggest margin in three years.

In the demo, “Meet the Press” posted its first November victory and biggest demo audience in three years, topping both the CBS and ABC competition for the first time in two years. The NBC program also won among young adults (18-49) for the first time since 2012 and beat both ABC and CBS for the first time in two years.

Todd took over as moderator in September 2014, premiering to the show’s largest audience in six months. David Gregory had guided the show since 2008.

On Nov. 22, the final Sunday of the sweep, “Fox News Sunday” garnered its largest audience in more than nine years. The program, featuring a rare television interview with radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh as well as an interview with Republican presidential candidate Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL), averaged 1.94 million viewers. In adults 25-54, it averaged 550,000 viewers, or 13% more than its average for the other three Sundays in the sweep (486,000).
