RB Tate not likely to return to Texans

Houston Texans running back Ben Tate tweeted Monday that he probably will not return to the team next season.

Tate, 25, is a pending free agent.

"Cleaned out my locker going to miss the guys on this team," he wrote in a series of tweets. "We have a lot of good ppl on this team and everyone was cool ... from the trainers to the equipment guys always made it a good time while still getting work done being drafted here. I learned a lot that I will ... carry on for the rest of my career thanks Htown for all the support but odds are I won't be back."

Tate, mainly serving as Arian Foster's backup, rushed for 771 yards with four touchdowns this year. He missed the last two games of the season with a rib injury. He took on a bigger role after Foster was injured in Week 7.

The four-year pro has rushed for 1,992 yards with 10 touchdowns in 40 NFL games.
